As many of you may have noticed, Minecraft has been a huge success on all platforms, and is perhaps the most successful casual game to date. The game was originally Markus Persson in the bedroom of a simple code sharing between friends and project, is now in the Mac/PC, mobile and the Xbox platform sales break through thousands of games, and more and more the game cloning works appear constantly, whether on the host, or in the mobile or PC platform.

Most interestingly, Minecraft is not considered a casual game by most game fans. It's easy to think of Minecraft as a social game because it's so popular that players can maintain their own servers and build all sorts of buildings of their choice.

So why is it a casual game? Perhaps it is because there are no clear goals or tasks in Minecraft. The whole game focuses on allowing players to explore, build, create and make their own items in their spare time. Of course, there is a survival mode element to the game, but the vast majority of players think of the game as a Lego sandbox game. What could be more casual than putting a bunch of Lego sets on the floor and designing what you want?

Frankly, social and casual game planners need to learn about Minecraft as a model, so here are five things they should learn about Minecraft:

1. Social engagement

The creators of Minecraft are very receptive to the idea that players want to share their own experiences, and allow them to build and use their own servers to do so. Instead of using auto-matching, Minecraft encourages players to actively engage with each other in the community, and is the first game in years to let players build their own way and maintain their own servers in order to play together.

2. An active community

Minecraft created by far one of the most active community, players create very proud for their own, and will be in your web page to show satisfactory work, combined with tens of thousands of YouTube video sharing, Facebook fan pages to share and countless fan site to share, you might understand why Minecraft can in the game world to create the so great influence.

The size of the community is not as important as the level of community player activity, however, the Minecraft community surpasses the size of many other communities with highly active players. The game emphasizes active participation, and the spread of the game is mainly through word of mouth, which is, of course, the most powerful form of advertising.

3. Play with fewer tasks

This has been one of the most important factors in the success of Minecraft. There are no particularly clear missions for players to do, and the only real goal is for them to enjoy their playing time within the game. This makes players feel like they are in charge of the gameplay. When a game commands or instructs you on a task, you know subconsciously that you're enjoying the experience the game planners have planned.

In Minecraft, you have nothing to do with anything but your own gaming experience, and you can create anything you like.

4. Support after release of the game

Unlike similar games a few years ago, Minecraft is very focused on post-release support. This is where developers need to get used to it quickly, and with the push of cloud services, now is the perfect time to roll out updates and better support.

5. Settle for independence

This isn't to say that everyone needs to be an independent developer, but if you're a small team of people working on a project for a hobby, stick with it. Mojang gives the world the impression that creator Markus is a bedroom programmer, but despite the success of Minecraft, Markus remains very active in the gaming community and even participates in games competitions with small teams.

Remember in an interview in April of this year, Markus Persson said, "We try to make games that we find fun, not necessarily profitable," but for most dios developers, can they make the next Minecraft? Persson advises, "Only make games for yourself and be critical of your work. If you enjoy your game enough, more people will enjoy your work."
